ICAT supports the Democratic Republic of the Congo to evaluate the impact of its climate policies and measures and meet the country's transparency requirements under the Paris Agreement. It aims to enhance the country’s capacity to establish robust measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) frameworks for greenhouse gas inventories and tracking nationally determined contributions (NDC). Focusing on the waste, energy, and agriculture sectors, ICAT support seeks to enable the implementation of the Paris Agreement's enhanced transparency framework and the tracking of the NDC and establish reliable climate data reporting. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is also a member of the ICAT hub in Central Africa.

Overview
The project aims to propose a national MRV framework for the country's greenhouse gas inventory and mitigation actions. It also aims to build and improve the transparency system related to monitoring the mitigation measures of the NDC in the waste, energy, and agriculture sectors. The project will map the most significant greenhouse gas mitigation actions and policies in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and set the basis for a web platform to centralize data collection and management for mitigation.
