ICAT is cuurently supporting Mexico to enhance climate transparency at federal, subnational level, with private sector, academia and NGOs in the process of preparation of Mexico's NDC roadmap. A previous project, implemented at a subnational level by the Grupo Ecológico Sierra Gorda, used multiple, complementing ICAT policy assessment guides to assess a Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) for landscape regeneration.

Overview
Increase climate transparency at federal, subnational level, with private sector, academia and NGOs in the process of preparation of Mexico's NDC roadmap, aimed at enhancing overall climate transparency.
- Support the identification of policies and measures useful to implement the mitigation opportunities defined by the country in its last NDC and to assess the existing alignment of subnational and national climate change initiatives and to apply clear assessment methodologies and indicators for the quantification of actions.
- An enhanced NDC roadmap including inputs from the analysis and systematization of information process looking at the enhancement of the MRV process.
- Defining accompanying MRV frameworks for an adequate tracking of measures.
- Analysis of the benefits of implementing synergies between adaptation and mitigation on the NDC road map.

Overview
Quantify the greenhouse gas and transformational change impacts of the NAMA "Subnational mitigation actions for the regeneration of forests and the implementation of planning grazing," and demonstrate that the public policies and actions of the NAMA can make a significant contribution to achieving and increasing the ambition of Mexico’s nationally determined contributions under the Paris Agreement.
- Undertake an assessment using relevant guidance documents from ICAT's series of policy assessment guides.
- Provide feedback on the usability and practicality of the guides based on the assessment.
